Ford Territory Turbo Ghia LPG Conversion

System type: Vapour injection. No discernible difference in power between gas and petrol. Seamless change over. Indirectly controlled by the cars own computer so that there is no conflict and all features are retained (e.g. traction control).
With the Territory conversions we started using the donut tanks in place of the other options which involve fitting conventional gas cylinders. These all hang down too low but as can be seen from the photos the donut sits quite high and looks very neat. The donut holds 63 litres of useable LPG and this is only a litre or two less than the nominal capacity of the other options. The donut is just a better use of space.
The territory shown in the photos is the turbo option and this demonstrates that these too can be put on LPG. The system used is a Sprint-gas system with AEB injectors.
Currently we use a different system with a faster injector response. This helps with some of the engine management strategies on the Territory when coming back to idle from high speed. (as in coming from the freeway to stop start traffic)
Cylinder: Donut shaped (toroidal) cylinder of 63 litres useable capacity.
Location: Under rear in lieu of spare tyre. For the 5 seater Territories we can supply an internal wheelstand. For the 7 seater it is not possible to fit the spare in the rear and use the seat. If one considers that more than half the drivers of cars nowadays would not change the spare if they had a flat tyre and given that we have products that can be pumped into the tyre when flat and seal the puncture and given that flat tyres are rare because the tyres are better, the need for a spare tyre is not as great as in the past.
Controls: Various options on the dash
Filler: As with all our jobs, if it is possible to fit the LPG filler in with the petrol filler then that is where we locate the filler. On the Territory this is standard.
Disclaimer: We endeavour to get all our data correct but we do not guarantee that we are perfect and haven't made an error in some of the data.
With the injection systems we do change the brand we use where we can improve on the quality of the equipment fitted. We are not tied into one particular brand and we are entirely motivated by self-interest; we aren't compensated for the labour to replace parts under warranty. When we fit components we don't fit them for ease of replacement but for best performance and looks and then within the requirements of the standards. It is therefore in our interests as well as yours that we don't have to replace parts and so we make sure we fit the most reliable, long lived parts.
