Ford BA sw LPG Conversion

Ford BA station wagon.

System type: The Ford BA 6 cylinder can have a conventional Impco Air Valve system fitted or it can have a vapour injection system fitted.

The photos here are mainly to illustrate the location of the “donut”tank fitted under the rear in place of the spare wheel and the plastic you can see on the side shot is the petrol tank. The other photo shows the location of the spare wheel on the right hand side inside the rear. This is supplied with a cover over the spare wheel. The spare is located on the right hand side as in this position it does not interfere with vision from the driver's seat.

Cylinder: Donut (toroidal) tank of 63 litres useable capacity.

Location: In place of the spare wheel which is now located in the rear on a stand. On sedans if preferred a donut tank can be fitted in place of the spare wheel. Because of the manufacturing process to stamp the halves, donut tanks are more expensive than standard cylinders.

Controls: Switch and gauge unit is built into the dash.

Filler: As with all our jobs, if it is possible to fit the LPG filler in with the petrol filler then that is where we locate the filler. Standard procedure on the Fords is a co-located filler.

Disclaimer: We endeavour to get all our data correct but we do not guarantee that we are perfect and havent made an error in some of the data.

With the injection systems we do change the brand we use where we can improve on the quality of the equipment fitted. We are not tied into one particular brand and we are entirely motivated by self-interest; we arent compensated for the labour to replace parts under warranty. When we fit components we dont fit them for ease of replacement but for best performance and l ooks and then within the requirements of the standards. It is therefore in our interests as well as yours that we dont have to replace parts and so we make sure we fit the most reliable, long lived parts.
