Chev C1500 LPG Conversion
Chevrolet C1500 with an Impco 425 mixer.
System type: On the Chev 350 (&454) throttle body injection engines we use an Impco 425 gas mixer. We siamese the Impco convertor to the mixer and mount the whole lot on the engine with the airfilter directly on the mixer. This has been a tried and proven method. One of the reasons for this is that the inner guards on the american trucks can be plastic and therefore not a good choice for mounting equipment.

Cylinder: This one has a big cylinder in the rear of 148 litres useable capacity.
Location: In the tub but other options are available depending on year, chassis and customers needs.
Controls: Switch gauge combination unit built into dash. The dashes are often fibreglass so we just need to have a spot that we can cut into to fit the unit.
Filler: As with all our jobs, if it is possible to fit the LPG filler in with the petrol filler then that is where we locate the filler. The filler will go in with the original but we sometimes fit the filler close to centre on the rear or near the petrol filler if it is a tray body.

With the injection systems we do change the brand we use where we can improve on the quality of the equipment fitted. We are not tied into one particular brand and we are entirely motivated by self-interest; we arent compensated for the labour to replace parts under warranty. When we fit components we dont fit them for ease of replacement but for best performance and l ooks and then within the requirements of the standards.It is therefore in our interests as well as yours that we dont have to replace parts and so we make sure we fit the most reliable, long lived parts.
